General Information
Graduation Requirements
The Promotions Committee makes a determination concerning each student's eligibility for graduation. The students must achieve a cumulative QPA of at least 2.00 to graduate.
Attendance Policy
Lecture, preclinic laboratory, and clinic attendance is mandatory. Students must be present for at least 85 percent of the sessions.
Students not treating their own patients or performing laboratory work will be required to be available for the treatment of emergency patients.
Dress Code*
To comply with the highest standards of infection control and professionalism, the School of Dental Medicine prescribes the following mandatory student dress code in preclinical and clinical areas:
1. Students will wear clean scrub tops and scrub pants in all preclinical areas (street clothes will not be permitted in these areas).
2. Students will wear clean full-length disposable gowns over scrubs during all patient treatment activities or while performing laboratory procedures where the possibility exists for the transfer of blood or body fluids.
3. Students will adhere to the School of Dental Medicine Exposure Control Plan regarding universal precautions (gloves, masks, protective eye wear, etc.).
4. Students will wear clean white lab jackets over scrubs when outside clinical areas or outside Salk Hall.
5. Students will be monitored daily at the departmental level as well as during infection-control tours conducted at random.
6. Failure to comply with this dress code will be viewed as a violation of School of Dental Medicine policy and could result in sanctions up to and including suspension or dismissal.

Graduation
Candidates are expected to appear in person at commencement exercises to receive their degrees; however, diplomas will be mailed.
